The Library of the Bridgettine Nuns and their Peregrinations after the Reformation. An essay by Christopher de Hamel. With the Manuscript at Arundel Castle. The Roxburghe Club, 1991.

The book is based on a manuscript in the library of the Duke of Norfolk in Arundel Castle which depicts the history of the English Bridgettine nuns of Syon. The manuscript was compiled in Lisbon in the early seventeenth century for a community of English nuns in exile. In addition to the examination and reproduction of this manuscript, the book contains a remarkable 86 page essay by Christopher de Hamel on the library of medieval manuscripts of Syon Abbey, and their dispersal, which is illustrated by 13 facsimile reproductions of manuscripts.

Edition details: Nine full page colour facsimiles of the miniatures in the Arundel manuscript, one facsimile page of text, of five, appears as a frontispiece. The whole text is reproduced in Spanish and in translation. One of 200 copies, 150 of which were printed for sale. Pp. viii, 158. 4to., original blue quarter morocco, blue cloth sides, gilt lettering on spine.
